I love Meadham Kirchhoff, so much so that I'm actually thinking about having a separate wardrobe room for everything by MK. I collect their clothes like my dad collects vintage cars. For their AW13/14 collection they designed very cool hair accessories like heart shaped barrettes that look like they belong to a rich russian goth lolita and tiaras that belong to kawaii unicorn princesses....
I bought a few of my favorites and got them a couple of days ago.
(I stole the blue elephant from my cousin, who stole it from her mom, who stole it from my younger sister...shh)
Heart shaped barrettes
Shooting stars barrettes
I'll style all these with braids like the girls in Reign.
Obviously when I saw this print on sweaters on the Givenchy AW13 show, I made sure I'd be getting them. The bag version...hmmm...not so much. When it started showing up in various online stores, the idea of buying one didn't even cross my mind...but then, my mom mentioned it...and a friend said "I saw it and knew it was for you..." Or something along those lines. Still slightly unconvinced, they were selling out fast. Then it dawned on me..I really need a tote that'll fit my macbook pro and my massive Filofax, the only organizer that I trust over Omni Focus, and the current Kerouac novel I'm reading...And maybe even a pair of flats for when classes end and the 6 inch Alaia's are a bit too much. Why not get a Riccardo Tisci designed tote with a cute and weird half decapitated bambi that's hauling a porcelain maenad creature, that will perfectly fit all the above and more?
The bacchus (inverse) scared sacrifice imagery was sufficient to win me over.
American Horror Story: Coven...
Heavy social commentary
Jessica Lange asking the girls to "wear something...black"
Emma Roberts as the ex-starlet in 00's fur
and Evan Peters as boyfriend from the dead.
Pretty solid so far.
Dresses by Victoria Beckham line "Victoria" are the cutest for summer. She won me over after using Emily the Strange as her inspiration for the first collection. I tend to stay away from florals but I love the print of this because I find it very resonant of Final Fantasy.
Futuristic 6th Form school girl skirt by Mugler
Golden Goose make the only sneakers I submit to buying. These are really cool with a rough glitter finish. It's what Cassie would wear if she ever had to run around New York again...
My love for Meadham Kirchhoff continues, and there's more to come.
Best part of summer is that I have time to read any book I come across...
so, one of those books filled me with glee because it looked like a super rare book about Ancient Aliens... Turns out, it was titled "Ancient Athens". So square. It was pointed out to me 7 hours later.
And even more excited about this... Some claim it's an overrated excitement, but whatever.
Slightly obsessing over The West Wing. I think it's becoming my favorite show.
To celebrate the end of finals and the start of summer, I've compiled a few things that have caught my eye during study breaks in the Kirby Room and 3rd floor of Mann. Now the wait for Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring begins…It's not a summer without a Coppola or Wes Anderson movie on repeat.
Please make those as Highness or Daffodile (preferably the latter...pretty please)
I'm watching season 4 of True Blood and Sookie wears a dress that reminded me of this in the first episode. I've always loved dresses by Tsumori Chisato, and this fits with her Kawaii aesthetic so sweetly.
Must have: Long Blazer by Balmain
Second must have: Leather Skirt by Balmain
My summer dresses are 90% from Topshop, this will be one among many: Slip by Topshop
This Junya dress with the silver mesh lining at the bottom is a unique spin on this summer's trend color: Red dress by Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons
I can't stop picturing this with a grey slouchy tanktop: Repossi Ear Cuff
An a la carte M7 but that can wait: Leica M Rangefinder
Dream lens: Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95
Wide lens (because St Mark's Place looks perfect through a 21): Leica Summilux-M 21 mm f/1.4
Badlands Criterion Edition...just because... <3
I started watching Girls this summer, and though at first my friends were just so into that they'd watch random episodes and I had no clue what was going on...I totally thought I'd never get into. Night after night, I fell in love with the girls on the show more and it immediately became one of my favorite things to watch. With all the kimonos I have, I was clearly a Jessa (style-wise)...recently however, I've realized that I've been picking a lot of things that are "veerrrryyy Hannah Horvath". Sure they are, how could a sudden penchant for florals, rompers, and muted dusty colors be anything close to what I'd ordinarily wear...Clearly Hannah's tastes have manifested into my love for glam heels and tough sweet coquettishness.
It's been a rough week, and I'm glad that finally the orgo prelim is out of the way…(I was so surprised by the epoxide question, so last semester). I can't believe I'm going home to see all my dearest people. First though, a tiny trip to the city so I can tick off the things I need to get for my little sister. <3
The clock tower face turned green as of 2 am or something last night…It's beginning to creep me out because I feel like an alien head is watching me from my window…

Here's a guide to cheer me up...
^^^^^^It's a Turquoise Butterfly Ring
Here's to drinking ginger tea...and a lot of it. You know, to boost our immunity...after sitting in front of a 6 foot air con...
and now back to Ares and Aristophanes
Since I was 15, I've spent every birthday the same way--with slight deviations in the afternoon. Have breakfast at the Yellow Cafe in Selfridges...(or whatever they've changed their name to now...it changes seasonally)...We're convinced that they have the best cappuccinos in London. (oh me and mummy, obvi). Then, we'll go to Harrods.. and we'll go to Alaia, then Balmain on the second floor and I'll pick my bday gifts. I've grown to only love buying Balmain/Alaia on my bday...Then we'll go have dinner at Cafe Rouge. Somewhere in the afternoon, we go to Ottolenghi where we'll have more cappuccinos and I'll have an almond croissant (which I'll only eat from Ottolenghi only...on my bday).
And then we'll go to Harvey Nichols...for our last cappuccinos of of the day. And maybe a brownie...
Okay so I was explaining this to a friend while in nyc, but you know how when sometimes you see things...and think, omg I love that! But I won't buy it, because it's supposed to be gifted to me...? That way it'll mean more..(no...?) I always see things I like but then won't buy them because I feel like I'd appreciate them more as gifts. Anyways, so, earlier in the year I came across this...
[As a preface, I wanna say that I love Marilyn Monroe so much that I have to constantly be reading a book about her all year round...despite maybe having already read them previously.] So I saw that on the net-a-porter website and refrained from buying it because I thought...hmm...that is something that would make such a good gift to me. A few months later, I got an alert that it sold out, and it's a limited edition book...and I freaked out! I should never ever go through that thought process again...but bracelets and rings are an exception.
I finally went to Browns yesterday to see my favorite girl there and to pick up my gifts from Meadham Kirchhoff! Browns have had them earlier, and I got a preview of them all wrapped up so I couldn't wait to open everything up. Inside were really cool pieces of costume jewellery.
I love them, and wore the ring as soon as I saw it. I'm so obseesed with MK. I'm gonna have a seperate room for all my Meadham Kirchhoff clothes, and make it all like carebear cool 90s kawaii with hello kitties up every corner.
